Negotiate Cellular Plans For Customers
Most of the population of Canada has mobile phones. However being Canadian means paying ridiculous prices for cellular plans. Many of these customers think they're just stuck paying market prices for plans however only a few people know about customer care or otherwise known as the loyalty or retentions department. Now the average person doesn't have the time to get put on hold and have a back and forth conversation to lower their cellular plan. Well offering a service to aid with this would be a decent demand as people are willing to pay to save. Charging a fee with a tier-based system would work with this concept as every outcome could end up differently depending on what was worked on within the plan. It doesn't cost much to actually operate a service like this, other than access to a computer and a phone. But it is time consuming. However if people are willing to pay for it, it's a viable business.
EDIT - It's a given that you might get rejected, there is no limit to how many times you call into their call centre, i have personal experience with Telus and Rogers and i've been given probably one of the best plans that one could imagine (Won't list it out here, if you want info, ask me) and that would be a the better incentitive for someone to actually look for this service as the person running it has something that someone would think is close to impossible with the savings and value you get. And it's not always about price, it may be trying to get a free feature like Caller ID, a typical freebie that's thrown out there if you haven't known already. This could save someone $5-8 a month or unlimited incoming calls, a feature that's $10 but it could save someone alot more if they go over their rate plan. So it just doesn't have to stop at trying to get a cheaper price on the plan, it's about shaping a person's need within their budget.
Offer Alternative Items From The Cafeteria Or Trojan Market
Ever sick and tired of the items offered at the cafeteria or trojan market? Well there are a couple people that are so why not offer an alternative to them as such. Maybe even just offer dessert to people. There are many possibilities to this. There are people that want choice and this will fill this niche. However the cost of running this business is costly and as a business, could be proved difficult to make a decent profit margin. It's viable but due to running costs, it could fail with ease.
EDIT - Yeah should have been more clear with this, i think it'll run with more of a general convenience of having snacks which aren't found anymore such as chips, candy bars and for the most part, those cookies that were actually decent. Finding inventory wouldn't be so bad but knowing the market would be a better idea of what to actually stock up with. Not my best idea but it's an idea.
I like the first idea with cheaper cellphone plan because that's what a lot of people really desire for. It'll be a bit difficult to get costumers' trust to this new company. How would you promote this idea?
ReplyDelete2nd idea is good but I think you should be more specific on what other alternative items should be sold in school. Depending on what food item you sell, it could be cheaper than food they already sell. This idea is also very time consuming because it takes time to actually produce the food unless you plan to get it from a supplier, it would still be expensive.

I really like your idea for cheaper cellphone plans. The only cost would be time. This is definitely a great venture idea. Perhaps you can pass out fliers to promote this idea.
ReplyDeleteYou should have put more detail for the second idea. What kind of food would you sell? How would you prepare it and what would the costs be?
I don't really like the idea of negotiating for people. It really depends how much money we're paying for this service. What if you are unable to negotiate the price? then that would be a problem.
ReplyDeleteThe second idea is a bit dull, could you possibly explain what you are specifically going to sell?
I agree with what Matthew said about negotiating cheaper cell phone plans as a business venture. It might be a side job type of thing but there are only so many people that you can approach unless you get your name out there. People wouldn't have someone random to help them get cheaper plans. However, if you manage to get the word out through friends and family, it could lead to something bigger.
ReplyDeleteWith the second idea, I agree with the others, you should set out one specific idea first, instead of being so general, and then decide whether it will work or not.
The cellular plan negotiation idea sounds very interesting, and definitely profitable. However, the biggest thing I would be concerned with is the time I would have available for me to use in order to make the business a success. As a student would you be able to balance your schedule in between this sort of business and your schoolwork?
ReplyDeleteAlternative food items would be nice, knowing what the consumers (students) want means you can purchase products that will sell easily. This could be a very profitable business.
I think it's a great idea to have an alternative to the Trojan Market and Cafeteria however where would your location be?
ReplyDeleteThe first idea is interesting because its a service which offers help for the customers to negotiate phone plans. Personally, I don't think this would work because there are MANY plans out there and there is a few new companies which also offer the cheapest plans that I ever seen. I doubt that people would take their time to get someone else to negotiate to the Bell or Rogers.
ReplyDeleteFor the convenience store, I like this idea. It's simple and easy. A problem might be that stealing because it is a stand in the school which means no security cameras. People might take advantage and steal the product. Another problem might be the health policy within BC. It would limit your product list.
You're first idea is very clever! I had many problems with Fido before until i talked to my friend on how to negociate and get what i want. Therefore i think it is a good idea to have this service for other people because i know many people are struggling with paying way too much each month for cell phone plans that they can negociate to cost half of what they're paying.
ReplyDeleteYou're second idea is good. There are many foods that people want to eat that are not sold in the cafeteria and Trojan Market. However it limits this store to selling items that are within the health policy

I think you already have a lot going on for yourself with the first venture idea. It seems like you already have everything put together. How much time are you willing to put in for your idea?
ReplyDeleteThe second venture idea is very common as it is, you will better succeed with your first venture idea.
Overall, good job Timmy! Your first venture idea is very creative and seems like it would suit you because you already do have experience with negotiating plans. Good luck with your venture! :)
The first venture idea is good, you just need to expand now which I cannot explain how. Althought I'm curious how are you going to generate profit for yourself?
ReplyDeleteTake out the second venture idea because I suggest you rather focus on the first idea.
